LKYG members, family and friends are welcome to join us for a delicous BBQ, fun, games, and boating in the lake! Parking is $5.00 in the lot or free along Lake Chabot Road. When you get into the park, take the main path toward the lake. Our tables will be located in the main lawn on the left (look for signs and balloons). Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco CA Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at a beauty pageant? Well, here's your opportunity. Volunteer at the 24rth Annual Miss Asian America Pageant on Saturday, August 8th at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. This wonderful pageant, founded and produced by Loong Kong member Rose Chung, is a celebration of Beauty, Elegance, and Culture, The pageant proceeds are donated to Asian Perinatal Advocates and the Stanford University Asian Liver Center which helps treat Hepatitis B in the Asian community. Volunteers are needed in the areas of food service,ushers, and dressing room assistants. If you would like to volunteer, please email Joyce Kwan at kwanjoyce@yahoo.com by July 11. Please see descriptions of duties below: All volunteers should enter through the backstage door of the building at the specified times. You will be required to register at the door. Once you get your ID badge, it must remain in full view AT ALL TIMES. Food service group- Please arrive by 10 AM. Food service volunteers will be responsible for providing food and refreshments to all backstage workers and contestants throughout the day. This involves purchasing food, preparing food, set-up/ clean-up and some light lifting. Ushers: Should arrive by 4PM. Ushers will be responsible for directing guests to their seats. Ushers will need to wear black pants, black shoes, and a white shirt. All ushers are asked to bring their own flashlight. Ushers will not be allowed backstage after the pageant has started. Security will be strongly enforced. Dressing room assistants: Arrive by NOON. Dressing room assistants will help dress the contestants during dress rehearsals and during the pageant. They may be required to do some ironing, or emergency hem work. Please bring a sewing kit if you have one. Dressing room assistants will have front and backstage access. Be sure to sign up as soon as possible so that your name can be acknowledge in the Miss Asian America souvenir program!! Hiking in Muir Woods Sunday, August 2nd 9:30 AM Muir Woods National Monument, Mill Valley, CA Please join us as we take a hike in the beautiful Muir Woods National Monument, located in Mill Valley. We will meet at the ticket booth at the entrance of the park at 9:30AM. The $5 entrance fee to the park will be covered by the SF LKYG. Non-four family individuals are welcome to join us for the hike, but will need to pay the $5 fee. The hike is easy to moderate, depending on the hiking route. We recommend you bring along a bottle of water, sunscreen and dress in layers. Please RSVP by July 28th by email at lkyouthgroup@yahoo.com. Cell phone reception at the park may be poor, so please let us know at least a day beforehand if you need to cancel. Directions: Muir Woods is located 11 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take Highway 101 to the Highway1/ Stinson Beach Exit. Follow the signs to Muir Woods. Roads to the park are steep and winding. Vehicles over 35 feet long are prohibited. Parking space is very limited and fills quickly on most days. There are no RV parking facilities.
