About Us  >
Loong Kong Youth Group of San Francisco
What is the Loong Kong Youth Group?

We are a confraternal organization founded by the San Francisco Loong Kong Tien Yee Association in 1981.  Our membership consists of
students and young adults who possess the following last names:
       (Lew, Liu, Lau, Low, Lowe)
       (Kwan, Quan, Guan)
(Cheung, Jung, Zhang, Chung, Chang, Jeong)
(Chew, Chiu, Jew, Jue, Chao, Zhao)

These four last names hold a special significance in Chinese history- they are the surnames of the four heroes
 Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang
Fei & Zhao Yun  whose heroism is documented in the famous Chinese novel "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms"

What is the purpose of the Loong Kong Youth Group?

The purpose of the Loong Kong Youth Group is to foster the sense of brotherhood (and sisterhood) among members of the Four Families
(Liu, Kwan, Jung, Chiu) that the three noble warriors Liu Pei, Kuan Yu, and Chang Fei swore to in the famous
Peach Garden Oath.   The
Youth Group attempts to rekindle the spirit of the brotherhood that the four heroic ancestors formed during the fall of the Han Dynasty.

The Youth Group strives to provide for fellowship among young adults, maintain confraternity among the four families, promote an
awareness of the Loong Kong Association, prepare youths for future leadership in the Association, and to encourage involvement in
activities to promote the general welfare of the Chinese community.  Members not only make many new friends, but also learn more about
their rich Chinese heritage, history, and culture.  Becoming a member of the Loong Kong Youth Group will enable you to develop
organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills while learning about culture and having fun.   Members make friendships that last a
lifetime.

What will I gain by joining the Youth Group?

Members have an excellent opportunity to form long term friendships with other members, learn to exercise responsibilities when working
with others, and be able to plan participate in many great
activities.  Members will also learn about their cultural roots and gain experience
for future leadership in the youth group.
