Loong Kong Youth Group of San Francisco

Announcing our November Social Event

You and one friend are invited to join Loong Kong Tin Yee Youth Group to see the Tutankhamun
exhibit at the de Young Museum at Golden Gate Park. Admission to the exhibit will be covered for
youth group members with one of the four surnames. Your non-member friend will need to pay a
subsidized cost of $17 if he/she is 18 or older, and $10 if he/she is age 6-17. (Free entry for age 5
and younger, but you will be responsible for watching him/her.)

Please choose a date for this event. We will go with the date that works best for the majority.
Saturday, November 7th. Saturday, November 14th. Sunday, November 15th.

The exhibit is open from 9 am to 6:30 pm. The tickets are marked for timed-entry and are not
exchangeable. Once you enter the exhibit, you may stay as long as you like, but there are no in and
out privileges. Please let me know what entry time works best for you (make a suggestion).

Special Lecture on Nov 14th 10 am: AAC Lecture: After Amarna: Tutankhamun, Horemheb, and
Ancient Egyptian Responses to Political Crisis, Dr. Janet Richards.

Complimentary refreshments (coffee, tea and sweets) in the de Young Piazzoni Murals Room from
1-3 pm on November 7th

A little info about the exhibit:
More than 130 objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun, the famous "boy-king", and the tombs of his
royal ancestors, his family, and officials of the court are on view in the de Young's special exhibition
galleries
.  Highlights of the exhibition include: the incredible life-sized sarcophagus of Tjuya,
great-grandmother to Tut, gilded in gold; a larger than life sized stone bust of Akhenaten from
Karnak Temple in Luxor; a beautifully carved and detailed bust of Nefertiti; a spectacular pectoral
with a remarkable center stone carved in the shape of a scarab, representing the height of jewelry
making; and much more.

Please choose a date (11/7, 11/14, 11/15) and suggest an entry-time by Wednesday, October 4th, so I
may make an announcement with the agreed upon event date.

I welcome suggestions for future event activities. Please also send me any information about
volunteer opportunities.

Sincerely,
Liv Kwan
